Major League Baseball Tour

THE CHALLENGE

Christie and James embark on their challenge to attend a major league baseball game at each of the major league baseball stadiums around the country within 125 days.

There Are
0
30 MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL STADIUMS
WE HAVE
0
DAYS TO TOUR THEM ALL

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

After the fall of 2015, James had completed Fall Ball with the Santa Barbara Pony League playing for the Washington Nationals (see pictures). James has been playing with a team for the last year and enjoys baseball, coaches, teammates, and the whole deal immensely. So much so, he has plans on the Major Leagues in his future career. That said, and as we quietly placed the glove, ball, and bat in the closet for the winter (or what they call winter in Santa Barbara… we actually play baseball year round here!), James contemplated on what it would be like to visit all the Major League Baseball stadiums. This thought grew into what would it take to visit them all in one year… which then led to who would be going on this once-in-a-lifetime excursion.

Obviously, James would be going… it was his idea, his passion, and his story that is intimately linked to the Major League Baseball Stadium Tour 2016. Apparently, it was also obvious that Christie would need to travel around the country visiting with various friends and relatives, getting to know each city and team, and following our son’s passion.

For Dad though, the answer was quick. “Dad, someone needs to stay home and feed the dogs… and send money!” (see pictures of Labradors Jessie and Hoover)

Which Dad is glad to do!

Follow up note: Don’t worry too much about Dad… he has seen several games so far this year (Colorado Rockies, Anaheim Angels, and Los Angeles Dodgers) and expects to see several more before the season is over.

Play Ball!

CHRISTIE

GLANVILLE

aka “Momma Bear” by James’ team parents, is a master cheerleader, instigator of great adventures, teacher of long experience, and all-around great Mom. Christie, when not attending Pony League games and practices (where she provides snacks and drinks… along with all sorts of Tiger gear for the players), is an avid tennis player, board member of several local nonprofits, and best friend to a large group of folks from around the world.

JAMES

GLANVILLE

aka “LL Cool J” by his teammates and coaches in Santa Barbara Pony League. Having just arrived at 10 years of age, James has a love and affinity for baseball, having participated in Santa Barbara Pony League over the last two seasons. James is finishing 4th Grade, and also enjoys boogie boarding, tennis, skate boarding, and (you guessed it) video games… including MLB 2015 The Show!

JOHN

GLANVILLE

aka “Map Man” for his involvement with not one but two map companies (Maps.com and Benchmark Maps), has played baseball for several decades, with a particular affinity for D League softball while playing for the Infrared Socks at Caltech in the mid ‘90s. John is living the tour vicariously this year while enjoying pursuits in sailing, skiing, and taking pictures… lots of pictures, of James, Christie, and the wubbies (that’s what we call our Labradors).

LABRADORS

aka “The Wubbies” are brother and sister Labradors that joined the Glanville Family in 2012. They provide unconditional love and the usual skills of baseball chewing, retrieval, and mitt mangling.

JAMES GLANVILLE BASEBALL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

James’ love for baseball is deeply entwined with his experiences with Santa Barbara Pony League Baseball (see http://www.ponysb.com/).

From his start with the Toledo Mud Hens in the Fall of 2014 through this Spring 2016 with the Detroit Tigers, James has developed a love and talent around the sport of baseball, the people who play, coach, umpire, support, and all things from practice to games, to clinics to seeing MLB games. James enjoys the uniform, the drills, the games, and most of all his fellow teammates. He would likely play all day every day if his parents let him!

James feels so strongly about the benefit he has received from Santa Barbara Pony League that he wants to “play it forward” with the Major League Baseball Stadium Tour 2016.

That is, the Glanville Family will match every contribution made to Santa Barbara Pony League up to $3,000.

This amount represents $100 per stadium from the Glanvilles, plus the contributions that come through his contacts and connections during this summer’s tour, for a total (we hope) of $6,000 to Santa Barbara Pony League. Please see the gift link here.

The Glanvilles as a family wholeheartedly support Santa Barbara Pony League and the positive impact it has on the children, parents, coaches, umpires and more, throughout our community.

Thank you!

The Glanville Family will up to $3,000.

“I think that any kid that loves baseball should have a chance to be on a team, get equipment and have fun! I want to help kids in my city live the baseball dream. Baseball is a great sport and being on a team is a good experience! I have learned a lot from my coaches and made new friends!”

Please help me, help kids, Play Ball!”James Glanville
